First Aid Training and First Aid Kits

Pay attention to first aid training for your staff, and to first aid kits.  Get medical advice on what they should contain.  The right contents depend on your circumstances.

First Aid Manuals

Well-known First Aid manuals include:

  • Where There Is No Doctor, by David Werner, Carol Thuman and Jane Maxwell.

  • First Aid Manual of the British Red Cross, St John Ambulance and St Andrew' Ambulance Association, published by Dorling Kindersley

  • The American Red Cross First Aid and Safety Handbook, co-authored by Kathleen A. Handal.

Many websites offer first aid advice online.  The St John Ambulance online first aid advice site is at www.sja.org.uk/firstaid/info.

Health Manuals for Travellers

Well-known health manuals for travellers include:

  • The Traveller's Good Health Guide, by Dr Ted Lankester, published by Sheldon Press.

  • Travellers' Health by Dr Richard Dawood, published by Oxford University Press.

All are available at bookshops or from www.amazon.com.
