Immediate Exciting Satellite Programming Opportunity - Internship to Transition Africa Learning Channel Background: First Voice International (FVI) is a Silver Spring based non-profit international development organization striving for a world of information affluence for all, in which there is the means for local voices to be heard, regardless of location, education, or wealth. To this end, FVI integrates a variety of appropriate information communication technologies to facilitate the sharing of practical information amongst underserved communities. Endowed with 5% of the WorldSpace Corporation satellite network covering Africa and Asia, FVI delivers information to remote populations using cost-effective and locally-maintainable systems. FVI utilizes its satellite capacity to broadcast both audio programming and computer-based data to its target areas and includes a variety of other technologies such as AM/FM radio, Internet, and mobile phones to maximize reach and impact. Scope of Work: Intern will provide support to help in transitioning FVI’s Africa Learning Channel (ALC). Duties will include helping to transition channel content to two servers being sent to London, ripping and uploading content, training on DRS2006 software, programming, log maintenance, emergency support and updates to FVI. The intern will be involved in the following activities starting immediately. 1. Receive training on DRS2006 software 2. General Labor 3. Programming/Maintenance Minimum Experience and Qualifications: This is a short term unpaid internship based in Silver Spring, MD. Intern must live in the Washington D.C. area. University students welcome to apply and gain academic credit where applicable. Some stipend is possible based on early performance.
