February-2008 Rev. T. Arvind Mohan Dass revdass57@gmail.com Dear Friends, Bcmi-India runs an Orphanage with 25 kids; for the last 8 years as a supportive ministry to our Church Planting mission. Very few individuals were behind us all these years, supporting the Orphanage and the ministry. As time wore on, their supports stopped and now we have no other choice; except to close the Orphanage from the end of April-2008; if the Lord, does not open for us doors of support. If you are going to post pleas for money online, you need to be ready for responses that might not be what you were looking for. Like this one.
I clicked on your web site address -- and when it finally loaded, I thought I was looking at an online casino, based on the flashing advertisements and graphics.
Based on what I read on your web site, I would not encourage anyone to send you money.
Your web site should look professional, it should talk about what your organization actually *does* instead of reaffirming again and again your religious beliefs and desperation for money. There should be a budget that shows how you have been spending your money and how you are planning to spend money in the coming year. There should be statistics showing how your work has improved lives and had positive impact. There should be letters of endorsement from other organizations, and contacts at international NGOs and government agencies that could be used to confirm your legitimacy and credibility.
Finally, you say that your supporters have stopped supporting you. Does that mean your organization is no longer worth their support? What is it that you have done, or not done, that has stopped their support?
For all aidworkers out there supporting NGOs that want to use the Internet for fundraising -- this is a great example of what NOT to do.
