Micro-Grant Competition: Schools for Rural Entrepreneurs

Submitted by teachamantofish on November 8, 2006 - 1:03pm.

I wanted to let you know about a funding competition which my NGO, TeachAManToFish, is currently running.

The idea is to assist schools and NGOs with education programs in developing countries to start up income generating agricultural projects.

Grants seek to promote entrepreneurship within education while supporting schools and programs to increase their own resources through income generating activities.

Fifteen awards of up to $5,000 each are available. The deadline for round one applications (a one page concept note)is November 15th 2006.

For full details visit www.teachamantofish.org.uk/competition or email competition@teachamantofish.org.uk

ps. As I'm sure you're aware, direct funding opportunities for small scale educational projects are unfortunately rare - so please let your friends and colleagues know about this one!

ps You might want to take a peek at the Aid Workers Network's Advice Pages on seeking funding and putting together fundraising proposals.

They're far from perfect, but they do represent a set of tips from a bunch of aidworkers who've been around a long time. It might help some potential applicants pull together their thoughts and submit a better application to you.
