Organisational DevelopmentDevelopment Experience ClearinghouseJuly 7, 2007 - 5:01am
The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Development Experience Clearinghouse (DEC) is the largest online resource for USAID funded technical and program documentation, with over 46300 documents available for electronic download. Search the Development Experience System (DEXS), USAID's online database of agency-funded technical and program-related documents using the term "evaluation" and it returns some 500 documents representing methodological guidelines as well as project evaluation reports. The site allows the user to download USAID documents in PDF format for free, and sign up for DEC Express, the bi-weekly e-publication that lists recently acquired documents. Logistics SoftwareJune 13, 2007 - 5:30am
Hi everyone, I did a search on the old AidWorkers Network forum and found some outdated posts on software to use for logistics purposes such as warehouse management and tracking shipments. We have approximately 4 offices in the US, 1 starting up in Canada, and four overseas in country offices and we need some type of software so everyone in all the offices can see what is available in our main warehouse. The program also needs to be able to be used in Spanish. Ever been "world banked"?June 5, 2007 - 1:14pm
Ever been "world banked"? I first heard the term while studying for my Master's a few years back, but had certainly experienced it often enough while working with the UN or with corporate partners, even if I didn't know it had a name. It's when you are brought in to a "participatory meeting" where you are supposed to provide inputs for a strategy. You spend the day -- or even several days -- with other employees or representatives from other organizations, breaking into small working groups, discussing and debating, identifying this and that, etc. You take it seriously. You all share with each other your concerns, hopes, fears, and what you think whatever resulting project should be all about. You walk away feeling great.
